SP Holding Tanker in Paradox Explosion
Telford-based drainage and waste company, SP Holding, saw one of their tankers involved in a massive explosion at the climax of episode 1 of the new BBC drama, Paradox.
The episode, aired on Tuesday 24th November, showed a tanker containing flammable gas drive under a low bridge on top of which was a train full of passengers. Over 4 million viewers saw the catastrophic explosion which followed, created by the special effects team and with the help and advice of staff at SP Holding, who supplied the tanker.
Steve Holding, Managing Director of SP Holding says: “When we were approached to supply the tanker for the scene, we were of course delighted. We helped the special effects team to achieve a large explosion by making cuts to an empty tanker and placing small quantities of fuel inside to ignite.
“The effect was excellent and millions of people got to see our phone number and logo for a few seconds, so it was excellent publicity for us. I’d like to praise the production company for a powerful result.”
Says the company’s Health & Safety Officer, Linda Richardson “We can assure viewers and customers that the explosion was carried out under controlled conditions and any debris was cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. Tankers do not usually explode in this way!”
SP Holding Group are a specialist tankering, drain clearance, metal fabrication and plant & event hire company.
