Septic Tanks

Septic tank systems have a basic function to separate solids from liquids; thus allowing liquid to flow out into a soakaway.  The soakaway then allows the bulk of the waste to permeate into surrounding ground through pipe work and drainage media.  Different types of septic tank systems are explained below:

Traditional Septic Tank

Traditional septic tanks consist of a tank, an inlet waste water pipe and a soakaway.  When the waste reaches the tank, the solids will settle and liquids are able to flow into the soakaway.

Obviously the tank will see a build up of solids and so will need servicing on a regular basis to prevent a build up of solids.  This is known as de-sludging or emptying. We can offer septic tank emptying services in Shropshire and beyond.

Bottle Septic Tank

Bottle tanks are similar to the traditional septic tank, but the chambers are stacked one on top of the other, rather than side by side.  Regular de-sludging is also required.

Sewage Treatment Plant

The basic principal of sewage treatment plants involves settlement, biological treatment and then further settlement.  This process aims to produce final effluent which is of a standard to discharge into a watercourse or soakaway, this standard is set by the Environment Agency.

Cess Pools

Cess Pools are used in areas where there is nowhere to site a soakaway or the ground is unsuitable (a porosity test will determine if the ground is suitable).  It is a holding tank with no outlet and so needs emptying and cleaning on a regular basis.

For new septic tanks installations, SP Holding can carry out porosity tests and complete the full installation.  We can also offer septic tank emptying, servicing or repairs on all of septic tanks and drainage systems for both commercial and domestic customers.  Our highly experienced team are on call 24/7 for emergency situations across Telford, Shropshire, Mid Wales and the West Midlands.  Call 01952 501155 for further details.
